I had an amicable divorce where all parties were perfectly cooperative, and they still charged me $10k. I figured this would be easy and I would receive most of my retainer. Nope. Divorce finalized Jan of 2023, writing this now (May 2023) because I didn't want to just be some angry guy on the internet. Maybe I would have calmed down and realized the charges were justified? They weren't. They nickle and dime'd me for my whole retainer regardless of what was necessary.
