I was sued by an HOA that was being represented by a unethical sleazebag of an attorney with a local law firm in Houston, Texas that represents HOA's. Attorney John Weigle was referred to represent me for this matter by a trusted friend and colleague. John was very quick to answer my calls, and he provided flexibility for me to pay a high retainer free in two payments. John made every crucial appearance where his representation was needed and when he had a conflict, his firm communicated that clearly and expeditiously to not only me, but also the court and opposing counsel. This was a highly continuous case between both parties. He was attentive to all my calls and emails. At times he was unnecessarily confrontational with me; and he could become unnecessarily emotionally charged in the courtroom. Perhaps that comes with the territory of a courtroom but sometimes that didn't set will with the judge which I feel didn't serve me well. Overall, I paid Attorney Weigle to achieve a specific goal and that was to make this frivolous lawsuit against me to be exposed and dismissed with prejudice. That goal was achieved and I am thankful for Attorney Weigel's diligence in seeing this difficult case through to the end. Matt Walker

I just hired John to represent me. We haven't gotten very far into my case yet. I can't comment on that. So far he has worked with me and my circumstances quite a bit. I do appreciate that. I wanted to address the comments on here about his tone and his aggression. Yes, it is true his tone can be off putting especially if you aren't used to him or the court system or attorneys in general. If you aren't able to look past that, the court process will chew you up and spit you out. You have to ask yourself, "Do you want the sensitive people pleasing lawyer who just wants to get along on the golf course and at fund raisers with all the other attorneys and judges?" or "Do you want the attorney that is aggressive, passionate, and wants what is right for his client?" I've had a lot of experience in the family court system, and attorneys. He is the second lawyer I've had to hire in the landlord tenant case I am involved in right now. My experience is the lawyer who initially holds your hand and tells you all the right things just wants your money, and won't deliver the promised results. If John is aggressive with people on his team think how he will be to the opposing team. Be smart when you're hiring an attorney.

I hired John in a tenant-landlord small claims case. He was quick to take $6,000 from us, but became radio silent for weeks after payment. When pressed for updates, he’d give us the run-around; until finally, after a month, I fired him for never filing anything on our case. He refuses to return any of the money (in fact, he’s insisting we owe him more), so we will be going to court. I truly regret not paying more attention to his sanction (he was suspended from 2014-2017 in both TX and OK) and listening to other people’s similar negative reviews. He’s a very greedy, unethical attorney who preys on poor people. Please avoid this man at all costs. ETA: I won my case against John Weigel. He attempted to countersue me for $250,000 for defamation for this very review. Nothing happened, because 1) he did not pay the filing fee, and 2) all claims made in this review are true. Just something for potential clients to consider. ETA (10/30/2024): I am not sure what imaginary court he thinks he’s suing me in. He is still the defendant. He is currently trying to appeal the jury’s decision in a different court. In response to his other claims: 1) He actually “worked” for me from March 5 - April 13, 2023; so 40 days, not 30. 2) My husband cussed at him because he wasn’t doing his job and had “suddenly realized” (a month later) that my husband was on the lease, when he had been given this information at the beginning of March. I never cussed at him, but I suppose I should have. 3) I never forbade him from doing his work either. I asked him if the complaint could be amended. And the case was supposed to be closed and refiled when I hired him, but he never did that. In fact, he never even filed a notice of appearance with the court. Clearly this man has difficulty with reality and being honest, as his own response to this review has proven. Not to mention he just divulged private attorney/client information without my consent. No ethics whatsoever.

After reading the reviews, I see this isn't a respectable attorney. He is representing my previous landlord on an appeal and I've begged him to only contact me during business hours, he's refusing. Coincidentally now someone is playing on my phone harassing me. I don't know how he got his license back, but it doesn't seem he should. I'm being to feel fearful. In response to his comment: When I ask you not to contact me outside of business hours, that is a simple request. Having a law degree didn't teach you basic professional etiquette, I guess.

John helped my wife with a ticket back in 2014. It wasn’t looking good for us but we found John and he really came through. We couldn’t believe what he accomplished for us. He is a Great attorney. Updating this he helped my daughter in December of 2023. Got our case handled and out the door with nothing on her record. Was very attentive and informed us from start to finish through the entire process. He worked after hours outside of 9 to 5 unlike most businesses. He really takes care of his clients and reminds you of the old days. Great attorney would recommend to anyone who wants to get a fair shake. And he’s a winner we are two for two now. Way to go JOHN keep up the great work.
